August Pursuit Race
As the river festival racing was cancelled this year, we organised an impromptu race on Quay Day.
6 Boats took part in the race: Firecrest, Calva, Wednesday’s Child, Anastasia, Free Will and Pinch of Thyme. The course was C1-C2 start line followed by Puffin to Port and back to C1-C2.

Isle of Man Single Handed
I went to Port St Mary over the weekend single handed and even though I had a great trip it was beyond my endurance levels so I suffered a bit.
I left Port Penrhyn at 0730 on Saturday and total time to Port St Mary was 13.5hrs. I raised the sails off Gallows Point, Beaumaris, and had a great days’ sailing up to 11 miles off IOM. » Read more
The Big One Weekend
The plan was to have a pursuit race in the bay followed by a BBQ on the Pontoon. The race was also open to non members but the cup could only be won by a member. Just to complicate matters the first test of the British Lions was being held that morning so the British Legion kindly opened up for us and served us some excellent breakfasts. It’s a shame the match didn’t go the way we hoped but the Lions did score at least one excellent try.
Spring Cruise 2017
Our 2017 Spring Cruise took place over the week of 27th May to 2nd June, including the bank holiday Monday. Five boats took part:

Sailing Results Now Published

May Pursuit Race
The May pursuit race was entered by Free Will, Lindos, Pinch of Thyme, Comrades, Mahalo, Penny Diamond and JDV. The conditions on the day were quite blustery and promised to provide us with a fast race. Unfortunately Lindos had engine problems in the morning and had to retire but the rest of us carried on into the Bay.
Round Anglesey Cruise
The club’s round Anglesey cruise took place over the May bank holiday weekend this year, and thirteen club boats joined in. About half the fleet headed off to Menai Bridge on Friday and spent the night there, while the other half left Conwy on Saturday morning, navigated the Swatch and went straight through the Swellies on the flood tide.
On the way across, boats on both days were accompanied by a large pod of dolphins which have taken up residence in the bay – take a look at the videos below, taken from Free Will and Pisces, to see a spectacular show, including fully airborne dolphins!

Trafalgar Day
The morning started un-promisingly with rain and poor visibility, with some debate over whether it’s all worth it, but we decided to trust the weather forecast. The live rain radar looked like the rain would sweep through.
So we headed out in full oilies.
By the time the fleet got to C6 there were signs of the sun trying to appear. By the time we got to the start line at C1/C2, the sun was shining and there were reports of a fully costumed admiral being spotted on Mahalo.
Though apparently the admiral wasn’t aware of the correct way to wear his hat.
