The Devizes to Westminster Canoe Race is probably the toughest endurance canoeing event in the UK. As the name suggest it starts in Devizes, Wiltshire and finishes under Westminster Bridge in London. A distance of 125 miles.
And paddlers do it for fun!
The event was born in 1948 when the Devizes Scouts were offered funds if they could get a boat to Westminster in under 100 hours, and the event has grown year on year ever since.
The Dyffryn Conwy Paddlers are hosting an evening all about this amazing canoe race on Thursday 24th January at the NWCC Clubhouse.
Come along and discover more about the event, meet DW veterans and DW hopefuls and learn about the preparation and training required and possibly understand why paddlers put themselves through such discomfort.
All DCP and NWCC members and friends and families are welcome
There is no charge for the event as catering is bring and share. Please let Penny at DCP ([email protected]) know what you hope to bring so there is a varied spread. The bar will be open from 20:00 and there will be hot drinks available.
