As the racing season is now on hold due to the guidelines for Covid 19 for a bit of fun we have moved our racing online.
Our races are being held on the Virtual Regatta Inshore platform, with Google Hangouts/Meet as the chatting facility while we are racing. We will meet up on the chat first at 11:00 and then go onto the race for 11:15. You can either play on a computer or download the app onto a mobile device.
Full joining instructions and race tips are on the RYA website here where you will find information about joining and gameplay tips. As well as being fun, online racing is quite educational as it strictly follows the rules of racing with all the correct laws being applied and penalties for any offences. It’s a risk free way of learning what can and can’t be done.
We will meet up on the chat first at 11:00 and then go onto the race for 11:15.
To join the races
Once you have signed up with Virtual Regatta and completed the training send a friend request to Free Will – NWCC. Click on the Custom Race Button on the 25th of April.
If a popup window appears with ‘Devenez VIP’ in it, click outside the box to get rid of it. Then click ‘Join’ and enter your access code by pressing the green box at the bottom. The access code has been sent to all Members by email.
I’m looking forward to seeing you all in the race. Once a few of us have signed up and friended each other we can have a practice and check how to use the system to decide on a winner.
Commodore’s Cup
These races will also count towards the Commodores Cup awarded at the end of the year and the usual Club Cups will be awarded at the end of year Dinner Dance for the winners of each regatta.
